Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Hops & Shops held?
Starting in 2026, Hops & Shops will be hosted at Savage Craft Ale Works, located at 430 Center Street in West Columbia. We run from 12pm - 4pm every second Sunday, weather permitting.
How much is the vendor fee?
Vendor spaces are $50 per market. Payment secures your spot and is non-refundable unless the event is canceled due to weather. We can credit for future markets, depending on the circumstances!
What size spaces are available?
Savage Craft offers three setup options, but outdoor spaces are very limited. You can select which location you would like, but this does not guarantee you will get it.
- Indoor spaces: 8x8 ft - will fit two 6' tables; no tents allowed inside.
- Outdoor spaces: 10x10 ft - tents required for sun/rain protection.
- Covered outdoor spaces: 10x10 ft - no tents allowed.
Space assignments are finalized closer to the event date. You will receive an email within 24 hours of the event date with a vendor map and detailed instructions.
What happens if it rains?
We are a light rain or shine event. If the weather is trash, we’ll call it. Vendors will be notified ASAP and fees will roll over to the next scheduled market unless otherwise discussed.
Can I sell food or drinks?
Nope. Absolutely no food or beverage vendors. Savage Craft serves their own food menu, and we respect their house rules.
Are kids or pets allowed at the market?
Yes! Hops & Shops is family-friendly and pet-friendly.
That said - keep your gremlins and fur-gremlins under control so everyone has a good time.
What does load-in/load-out look like?
You’ll receive a detailed load-in map and instructions within 24 hours of the event date. Please arrive on time so we can avoid chaos. If you arrive outside of the load-in window, you will not be allowed to set up. This disrupts the entire event and makes Leiren's eye twitch. Don't do it.
Do I need a business license to vend at Hops & Shops?
Yes. All vendors must have:
- A valid South Carolina Retail Sales Tax License
- A City of West Columbia Business License to legally sell at Savage Craft.
These are required by the City of West Columbia for any business operating within city limits. If you already hold a business license in another SC city, you’ll still need a West Columbia one to vend here. We (the organizers) are not currently providing a blanket event license that covers vendors.
Do vendors need insurance?
We strongly recommend liability coverage for outdoor markets, but it’s not required by default. If Savage Craft updates their policies, we’ll notify vendors immediately.
Do I need to bring my own tables, displays, or power?
Yes! This is a full BYO setup market. We do not provide tables, chairs, wifi, or tent weights. Some indoor spaces have access to power, but it is not guaranteed. Tent weights are mandatory for all outdoor vendors. You must have 50lbs per tent leg. No exceptions.
How are vendors selected?
We curate a mix of handmade, vintage, art, alt-indie brands, and small businesses. We aim for variety and overall vibe cohesion, not first-come-first-served.
Can I share a booth with another vendor?
Booth sharing is allowed only if both vendors are approved and the products fit within the same vibe category. Just note it on your application.
How do I apply?
Applications will be available on the website. Once accepted, you’ll receive a link to pay your vendor fee and confirm your spot.
